Pride is a biographical comedy drama which about two groups in an era of raging homophobia and strident union bashing who made a common cause in a Welsh mining community, the events which unfolded said a lot about what it means to be empathetic and to face common enemies including Thatcher, the tabloids and the police. Singin’ in the Rain (1952) You Were Meant For Me Costume and make up- In this scene we get to see the importance of each aspect of mise-en-scene, and how it has been used to portray different meanings for each of the characters and the storyline. For example, in this scene the costume and make up plays an important role to highlight Kathy's innocence and angelic appearance through the subtle and light colours. Both of their costumes and the colours suit the backdrop really well which brings the characters, the dance and the setting together as one. Her lilac dress is very similar to the colours used in the background and fits in with the dreamlike constructed setting, his costume too fits in with the light, ethereal backdrop, and so I think the costumes in this scene have been used to further emphasise that the setting has been constructed and it is not natural or reality; it is a place that Don is familiar and comfortable in, but is somewhere new and unusual t

The Hunger Games - a Blockbuster action movie or social realism? A blockbuster movie is widely known as a film which is successful with widespread popularity, it is used describe a movie with a production budget of at least $100 million. This compares with a typical studio movie which often has a much lower production budget, between $30 to $60 million. Blockbusters are large in scope, scale and most importantly, they are entertaining. They feature huge thrills, spills and visual effects, but they ultimately ensure audience engagement through the micro elements of film form. Blockbusters typically fall into the action genre. The Hunger Games is a film based off the first book of a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. It is a story which revolves around a 16 year old girl, Katniss Everdeen, who by fate or choice, is thrown into the Hunger Games to fight to the death with 23 other competitors.
